KNX Group Monitor

The Monitor tab of the KNX pages shows the telegram traffic on the KNX bus. You can also write and read individual group addresses here, for example to check an address before you create a device on it.

Recording starts by itself when you open the tab and ends when you leave the page. When opened, the monitor switches the KNX skill's debug mode on if it is off; it stays on afterwards.

Writing and reading group addresses

The upper table holds your test rows. Add below the table creates a new row. The rows are stored on the Controller and are available again the next time you open the tab, also in another browser.

  • Group Address – Type the address (three-level 1/2/3 or two-level 1/2, depending on the KNX Settings) or choose it from the known group addresses with Select (check mark).
  • Delay – waiting time in seconds before the telegram is sent. 0 sends immediately.
  • Value – the value that Write sends.
  • Action – Write sends the value to the group address, Read sends a read request. The response appears in the telegram list and under Last received.
  • Last received – the last value received for this address while recording was running, and how long ago that was.
  • The cross (Delete) removes the row.

Telegrams

The Telegrams list shows the newest telegrams at the top, at most 100. It is not stored.

  • Time – time of the telegram with milliseconds, in UTC.
  • Source – the physical address of the sender, below it the name and description of the device from the KNX project. Telegrams of the Controller itself show nomos.
  • Destination – the group address, below it its name. When you point the mouse at the address, its datapoint type appears.
  • Type – Write, Response or Read.
  • Value – the transmitted value.

Names and datapoint types come from the uploaded KNX projects and the manually created addresses.

Above the list:

  • The search field filters by source and destination address, their names and the datapoint type.
  • Clear empties the list.
  • Stop pauses recording, Start resumes it.

Start, stop and clear are noted with their time as a row of their own in the list.
