Automations

The automation feature in the nomos system Controller allows you to automate recurring actions or processes.

What are Automations?

Automations are rules or sequences of actions that run automatically when certain conditions are met. These rules can be set for individual rooms, device categories, or specific platforms.

Automation Overview

This view displays an overview of all created automations in the nomos system Controller. Each automation includes the following information:

1. Name: The name of the created automation (e.g., „Guten Morgen“). Clicking it opens the automation. When you move the mouse over the name, a tooltip shows the automation in one sentence. The icon for the note follows the name.
2. Enabled: The checkbox shows whether the automation is enabled; you can also switch it on or off directly here.
3. Last updated: Indicates when the automation was last edited.
4. Last triggered: Indicates when the automation was last triggered.
5. Actions:
   • Edit (Pencil Icon): Opens the automation for editing.
   • Duplicate (Double Document Icon): Creates a copy of the automation.
   • Delete (×): Deletes the automation after a confirmation prompt.
   • Lock (Lock Icon): Locks the automation so it can no longer be changed or deleted. Unlock reverses this.

At the top right, New Automation creates a new automation. The Room, Platform and Device Categories dropdowns filter the list.

The search field finds automations by name, note and the sentence that describes them. With the name of a device, for example, you find all automations that use it.

You can also filter existing automations by room, platform, or device category.

Automation in one sentence

The configuration interface sums up every automation in one sentence, built from its triggers, conditions and actions, for example:

When Motion of Motion sensor (Hall) is on (only on change) and between sunset and sunrise, then Wall light (Hall): Turn on. Otherwise Wall light (Hall): Turn off.

Every day at 20:00, then Position of Awning (Garden) to 100.

You see the sentence in two places:

• In the list as a tooltip when you move the mouse over the name. The search field searches it as well.
• In the editor as a plain line below the bar at the top (see Create Automation).

If the sentence says unknown device (C…), a rule refers to a device that no longer exists; its identifier is shown in brackets. unknown rule stands for a rule the configuration interface cannot read. Both are a reason to check the automation.
