Define Trigger

The trigger determines when the automation is executed. This can be initiated by various events or conditions, such as reaching a specific time, a sensor event, or a change in the weather.

Steps to Select a Trigger:

1. Add Trigger:
   • Click on "Add your first trigger" A dialog window will open where you can select the platform or event that should trigger the automation.
2. Grouping and groups:
   • Use the dropdown at the top of the window to choose how devices are grouped: Platform, Device Type, Room or Zone.
   • Below it are the groups you pick the trigger from, among others:
     • KNX Group Addresses: KNX group addresses as triggers (see KNX).
     • Platforms: the devices of the individual skills, e.g. OpenWeather with weather values such as rain or temperature.
     • Time: Daily, Weekdays, Monthly, Yearly, Once, Sun position (sunrise or sunset) and Interval.
     • System: On Restart of the Controller and CPU Temperature.
     • Variables: changes of variables.
3. Search for Triggers:
   • Use the search field to find specific triggers more quickly, especially in larger installations or when many group addresses are present.
4. Add the trigger:
   • Clicking an entry adds it to the automation and closes the window.
5. Multiple Selection (Optional):
   • With Multiple Selection enabled, the window stays open after each click. This lets you add several triggers in a row; close the window yourself afterwards.

Below the triggers, the OR button adds further triggers. The automation starts as soon as one of them occurs.

If Only trigger if the reported values are different. is enabled, a device only triggers when its reported value has changed – not on every report of the same value.

• Triggers are the first step of every automation. They define when and under what circumstances an action is executed. By using different platforms, you can utilize a wide range of events as triggers to optimally automate the system.
