Software updates

Where the app shows new software, how to postpone a security update and who installs new versions.

Your Controller receives two kinds of updates:

• Security updates fix vulnerabilities in the installed version. The Controller usually installs them by itself, in a time window set by your integrator.
• New versions bring new functions. Your integrator installs them, or the Controller does so automatically if it is set up that way.

Only admins see either of them.

Where you see an update

• In the app: under Settings → Infos, Update available appears with the new version number. Tap it to open the configuration's Software Update page. This only works in your home network; on the go you see the line but cannot open it. Tapping the Security update available push notification takes you here too.
• As a push notification: when a security update is ready, admins receive the notification Security update available beforehand, with the version and the date (Installation on …). For it to arrive, notifications must be allowed for the app, see Push notifications.

You can also reach the Software Update page via Settings → Configuration → More… and, in the menu, Administration → Software Update.

Postponing a security update

If the date does not suit you, for example because you have guests that day, postpone the installation:

1. Open the Software Update page. At the top it says Security update available!, and below it when the update will be installed automatically.
2. Tap Postpone 7 days. The button shows how often this is still possible, for example (2 left).

You can postpone at most twice. After that, the Controller installs the update in the next time window.

If you do not want to wait, tap Install security update and confirm with Yes, update and restart.

New versions with new functions

New versions are installed by your integrator, or by the Controller automatically if your integrator has switched on Install all updates automatically. The Controller then installs every new version on the set weekday, without announcing it by push first. The Software Update page does offer you Install Update as well, but talk to your integrator first. Open release notes shows what changes.

During the installation

The Controller restarts after the update. In the meantime the app reports that the connection was lost, and then reconnects by itself, see Common problems.

Your integrator sets the weekday and time of the automatic installation. The settings are described under Software Update in the integrator handbook.
