Managing users
Adding household members, granting rights, blocking or deleting accounts and resetting passwords.
Everyone in your household should have an account of their own. As an admin, you create the accounts and decide what each person may do.
Open user management
Settings → Configuration → More…. The complete configuration opens. In the menu, choose Administration → Users.
The list shows all accounts. Next to each account there are three icons: the pencil for Edit, the key for Permission and the × for Delete.
INFO
This only works with full admin rights and only in your home network. On the go, the app shows Not allowed during remote access., see With admin rights.
Adding a household member
- Tap Add User.
- Choose the User Group: user for most people, admin only for someone who should manage everything, as you do. What the groups mean is explained under Who does what?.
- Enter the Full Name and the Username and, if you like, an E-Mail.
- Set a Password and repeat it under Verify Password. For admins, the Controller requires at least six characters.
- Tap Save at the top.
Give the person their username and password. They sign in with them in their app, see Signing in, and then set a password of their own under Settings → User → Change password.
You can change the name, e-mail and user group later under Edit.
WARNING
Do not tap Setup for new User. This button is meant for your integrator when handing the system over: it deletes all existing accounts and resets remote access and Matter, among other things.
Allowing remote access
- Tap Permission next to the account.
- On the Functions tab, under General, set Remote Access to Full Access. Off blocks it.
- Tap Save.
The person's app fetches the key for use on the go the next time it connects at home over Wi-Fi, see On the go: remote access.
Restricting to certain rooms
- Tap Permission next to the account and switch to the Rooms tab.
- For each room, choose Full Access, View only (devices can be seen but not operated) or Off (the room is hidden).
- Tap Save.
On the Scenes tab you hide individual scenes the same way with Off.
INFO
Save only saves the tab that is currently open. If you change several tabs, save each one separately. Your Controller's original admin account cannot be restricted.
Deactivating an account
A deactivated account is kept with all its settings, but can no longer sign in. This is the right choice if someone should not have access for a while.
- Tap Edit next to the account.
- Under Status, clear the Enabled checkbox.
- Tap Save.
The person's existing sign-ins end immediately. If they sign in again, they see Your account is disabled. To reactivate the account, tick the checkbox again. You cannot deactivate your own account.
Deleting an account
- Tap Delete next to the account.
- Confirm the question Delete "…"? with Delete.
This cannot be undone. Your own account and protected accounts cannot be deleted; the icon is then greyed out. If in doubt, deactivate the account instead.
Resetting a password
If someone has forgotten their password, Forgot password? with your approval is usually the easiest way, see Incoming requests. You can also set a new password yourself:
- Tap Edit next to the account.
- Tick Change Password.
- Leave Old Password empty and enter the new one under New Password.
- Tap Save.
The person is signed out on all devices and signs in again with the new password. Afterwards, they change it under Settings → User → Change password to one that only they know.
