Tablet as a wall panel

Setting up a tablet with the nomos system app as a fixed control panel on the wall.

With a few settings, an iPad or Android tablet with the nomos system app becomes a fixed control panel, for example in the hallway or the kitchen. All settings only apply to this tablet.

Choose an account

Ideally, sign the tablet in with an account of its own that only has the rights it needs, for example without remote access and only with the rooms that are operated from this spot. An admin creates it, see Managing users.

To avoid typing a password on the tablet, use Log in with QR code: you scan the code with your smartphone under Settings → Approve sign-in. The tablet is then signed in with your own account and its rights. See Signing in.

Keep the screen on

Under Settings → App Settings, switch on Prevent Screen Lock. The screen then stays on as long as the app is open. Keep the tablet connected to a power supply permanently.

Choose a screensaver

Under Screensaver, choose a waiting time, for example 5 Minutes. The tablet then shows the clock, the date and the music playing, and automatically the camera image when someone rings or motion is detected. See Screensaver.

Larger buttons

Set the Button Size to Large or X-Large, so the tiles are easy to hit in passing. With Single Touch Operation, a tap on a tile switches directly. See App settings.

Protect the settings

Under Settings → User, set a Passcode. Configuration, Controller, Logout and App Reset can then only be reached with this code, and nobody signs the tablet out by accident. See User.

INFO

To keep anyone from leaving the app, iPad and Android have functions of their own: Guided Access on the iPad, app pinning on Android. You find them in the tablet's settings.
