Hiding a device from voice assistants and Matter

Deciding which devices Alexa, Google Home and Matter apps can see.

By default, every connected app (Matter, Alexa, Google Home) sees all the devices it understands. Here is how to hide individual ones, for example the garage door or a device in the children's room:

Open the device

Settings → Configuration → Devices, and tap the device.

Display

Switch to the Display tab.

Choose

• Switch off Use Device with Voice Assistants: the device disappears from Alexa, Google Home and from Matter.
• Switch off only Display Device in Matter if possible: the device only disappears from Matter (Apple Home, Google Home via Matter …); Alexa and Google via the cloud still see it.

The change takes effect immediately, without pairing again. In Alexa and Google Home, the device disappears the next time the device list is updated.

Scenes cannot be hidden individually from Alexa and Google Home.
